TestMyBrain Simple Reaction Time
Determine your reaction time
Reaction time — how quickly you can respond to a signal — is one of the oldest measures in psychology. It reflects the basic speed at which the brain takes in information and turns it into action.
In this simple reaction time test from TestMyBrain, a red rectangle turns green after an unpredictable delay, and you respond as quickly as you can. Put simply, it measures how fast you react when you know exactly what to do.
On the following pages, you can determine your reaction time by completing a short task. It has to be completed in one sitting.
The results will be provided immediately after you have completed the final trial. Please note that the results you receive can only be reliable to the extent that you work attentively and without help.
This test is part of the validation study for the Quantitative Socionics Inventory. In case of any question, please write an e-mail (contact@quantitativesocionics.org) to the research team.
About this test

- A red “WAIT” rectangle turns into a green “GO!” rectangle after a variable delay; respond as quickly as possible. Three practice trials and 30 test trials.
- Main outcome
- Median reaction time (ms).
- Also reported
- Mean reaction time (ms) · SD of reaction time (ms) · TestMyBrain score
- Input
- Keyboard or touch screen; touch devices are offered a choice at the start.
- Study
- Your answers are stored anonymously under the same private profile as the Quantitative Socionics Inventory, so that results can be compared across participants.
