Themes of Questim-Declatim Functions in Politics and Culture

I. Y. Romanov · November 18, 2024 · Original source

Values obtained at the intersection of the questim-declatim functions with the eight classical functions.

These are precisely the themes usually voiced when someone seeks, sincerely or otherwise, to obtain support from a reference group consisting predominantly of individuals with the given combination of functions.

  • Si+Qi: for peace, nonviolence, and the right to careful treatment of oneself, one’s health, and one’s property

  • Si+Di: for stability, preservation of the established group comfort zone, and unwillingness to change one’s style of thinking and way of life

  • Si+Qe: for strengthening borders and supporting local producers - whose products have long been adapted and are therefore safe

  • Si+De: for creating a comfortable environment in which everyone’s interests will be harmoniously and mutually satisfied

  • Se+Qi: for the right to defend one’s personal interests and property, and to possess and use personal weapons

  • Se+Di: for group subordination and the suppression of “weaklings” in order to increase collective strength

  • Se+Qe: for maintaining an image of the grandeur and inaccessibility of those in power (“it is unbecoming for a tsar to participate in elections”)

  • Se+De: for competitiveness as the basis of life, and competition under equal conditions as a method of distributing goods

  • Ni+Qi: for the right to doubt and nonalignment, and withdrawal from an alien group reality into reclusion or escapism

  • Ni+Di: for self-sacrifice when reality reaches some degree of unbearability, for the sake of the survival of the collective “we”

  • Ni+Qe: for creating a mythological reality that is pleasant for oneself and advantageous in interactions with others

  • Ni+De: for speculative intermediation in cross-border exchange between the realities of different people and societies

  • Ne+Qi: for the absence of dictates and coercion (“liberty, equality, fraternity”)

  • Ne+Di: for altruism and self-restraint for the sake of shared prospects (“let us tighten our belts in the name of a bright future for our children”)

  • Ne+Qe: for patronage of talented individuals and the creation of special conditions for them (“talent - a gift from God”)

  • Ne+De: for diversity and universal representation (“let all flowers bloom”)

  • Ti+Qi: for scientific truth, freedom of inquiry, and the right to think freely and demonstrate that one is personally correct

  • Ti+Di: for compulsory education and the subordination of everyone to a single code of axioms (for example, a state’s body of laws)

  • Ti+Qe: for creating educational and bureaucratic barriers to laypersons’ access to knowledge and the system of governance

  • Ti+De: for the popularization of knowledge, enlightenment of the masses, and democratization of governance

  • Te+Qi: for financial independence and the right to conduct one’s own affairs personally and be accountable to no one (generates progress)

  • Te+Di: for the obligation to work, and the punishability of what society considers laziness, idleness, and parasitism

  • Te+Qe: for introducing systems of licensing and copyright to protect the interests of participants in already established markets

  • Te+De: for learning from outsiders and cooperating with foreigners for mutual advantage and benefit (generates globalization)

  • Fi+Qi: for cultural refinement, the right to respect for each individual’s personhood and to tactful communication, and nonviolation of personal boundaries and taboos

  • Fi+Di: for self-censorship, avoidance of what is taboo in society, and instilling political reliability in others

  • Fi+Qe: for observing etiquette that sustains a position of moral superiority for the participants in communication

  • Fi+De: for an orientation toward one’s interlocutor and the importance of being user-friendly (speaking the interlocutor’s language)

  • Fe+Qi: for the right to live according to one’s own love rather than someone else’s calculation, and to do only what one feels drawn to - for the sake of personal happiness

  • Fe+Di: for renouncing the pursuit of personal advantages for the sake of a sense of belonging and patriotic unity with one’s group

  • Fe+Qe: for the aesthetics of the sacred, and rejection of advantageous alliances with those who are lower for the sake of communion with and service to that which is higher

  • Fe+De: for open access and transparency for the sake of mutual trust

This work was created to illustrate how diverse the manifestations of the eight classical functions can be, and how important the questim-declatim functions are in selecting the specific manifestation of the classical function coupled with them [author’s note, 07.2026]
