HOW CAN AN ALPHA MEMBER PERSUADE REPRESENTATIVES OF OTHER QUADRAS ABOUT SOMETHING?
Suppose an Alpha member is looking for money to continue supporting his project.
An Alpha member has come to ask an SLE for something.
He will find understanding if he builds his argument around the fact that his team has encountered a problematic challenge before which one must not, and indeed it would be a sin, to surrender (cluster 11); that the employees’ eyes are already glowing with excitement in the face of this challenge; and that victory over it will bring shared glory and a sensation for all of us (clusters 10, 23). It is useful to emphasize that overcoming the difficulties that have arisen is a matter of principle beside which the additional costs pale (cluster 12). We also cannot allow American competitors to get ahead of us, cheating us out of our national priority (cluster 1). Nor is there any need to be embarrassed by the fact that this is fundamental research clarifying questions about the structure of the world but promising no quick profits. Questions of principle, priority, and competitive power confrontation are always much more interesting to a normal SLE than questions of subsequent material benefit.
But it would be a major mistake to start talking about the humanism of the project (cluster 4), or about plans to expand international cooperation on it by involving a broad range of co-executors from other countries (cluster 17). One should not complain that, because of a lack of funds, some of the scientists have already not been paid their salaries (clusters 18 and 19). It would be a mistake to emphasize the modesty of the tasks and requests (cluster 32) and to press the theme of the purely scientific interest in suddenly discovered “curious facts” that arose among the performers in the course of the work (clusters 7, 14, and 16).
An Alpha member has come to an LSI.
Here one should similarly press the principled nature of the task, the employees’ eyes glowing with excitement, and the forthcoming emotional sensation from the common victory. But it would also be useful to add something about the important contribution to the systematization of knowledge promised by the project and to draw an analogy with Mendeleev’s table. One should also stress that without completing the project, our knowledge of the issue remains fragmented, largely uncertain, and devoid of a system (clusters 5 and 35).
As in the meeting with the SLE, one should avoid the themes of humanism, international cooperation, purely scientific interest in the problem, and newly opening prospects (from Maxim’s point of view, work is good if it closes old questions rather than opens new ones).
An Alpha member has come with his project to an IEI (a rare case. When an IEI controls money – but perhaps he is Dmitry Medvedev, or has simply recently received an inheritance).
It is important to have absorbed, glowing eyes (cluster 18), and the persuasion can quite well be built around infecting one’s counterpart with interest in suddenly revealed curious, interesting things that give beauty and pleasure to everyone involved in and supporting the project. Beauty and sacred knowledge – for the chosen few.
What should not be discussed is the desire to dot all the “i”s as quickly as possible in establishing strict truth (cluster 5), or the desire to publish as quickly as possible and make the results common property (because this is a blow to the sacred aristocratic nature of “beauty” - cluster 21).
An Alpha member has come to an EIE.
Here the emphasis in the conversation should be placed on the values of clusters 30, 12, 7, 20, 29, 9, 10, and 25 that are shared with the EIE. The motives of clusters 4, 27, 28, 22, and 3, however, should not be voiced in the conversation.
An Alpha member has come to a SEE.
Here clusters 11, 6, and 23 are of help. Everything concerning a challenge that has been thrown down, competition, emotional uplift, and also the eventual emergence of new prospects.
What categorically should not be done is to emphasize your honesty, altruism, and selflessness (clusters. For the SEE, this with respect to you is all the same, but if you yourself begin advertising yourself in that spirit, but you will be regarded as a liar. In front of an EII, presenting yourself this way (provided it is unobtrusive and natural) is both possible and even necessary.
An Alpha member has come to an ESI.
With an ESI, Alpha can find common ground across a broad range of properties. Humanism, intolerance of violence and the infliction of suffering. Need for social justice with protection of the weak, with political convictions tending toward the liberal left. Sincerity and honesty; does not like and does not know how to be cunning, deceive, be two-faced, or intrigue. Seeks positive emotions in people and therefore tends to lift others’ mood, sympathize with them, and help them, while harming others or creating or finding enemies for himself is not at all among his aspirations. Truth-seeking aimed at establishing and clarifying the truth. Strong responsive resonance to other people’s negative emotions (the endorphin system for compensating negative experiences is weakly developed - against a background of strong or valued Fe), and therefore avoids them in himself and in others, especially avoiding putting other people into a negative emotional state. By and large – selflessness. Purity of principles is more important to him than any benefit. Non-egoism, respect for the interests of other people, including strangers or slight acquaintances.
But here is the list of your properties on which you will not find common ground with an ESI: Attraction to strong emotions and passions. Need to love and be loved. Openness to the joys of abstract fantasy. Predisposition toward lofty, selfless idealism of views. Dominance of the principle of interest. Weak discernment of the individual characteristics of other people’s character, thoughts, and motives. Ignoring the passage of time, temporal changes, and deformations. Conviction that one works for the common global good (no! The ESI works for himself and his close circle and does not especially believe in global national or universal human benefit!). Respect for abstract fantasies. Openness to the new and diverse.
An Alpha member has come to an ILI.
Alpha has very few points of overlap with an ILI. Try to use them effectively. These are: Low level of ambition and greed of desires. Respect for abstract fantasies. Interest in and respect for scientific pursuits and scientific intellect. Inclination toward everything problematic. Love of systematization (in those ILIs whose Ti is reasonably well developed).
But the list of potentially conflictual mismatches is very broad. Keep in mind the list of Alpha traits that the ILI categorically does not share:
Art for art’s sake, beauty and pleasure above pragmatic utility
Openness to the new and diverse
Purity of principles is more important than benefit
Dominance of the principle of interest.
Sincerity and honesty; does not like and does not know how to be cunning, deceive, be two-faced, or intrigue.
Humanism, intolerance of violence and the infliction of suffering
Likes to share knowledge and information with other people.
Indifference to money as a value in life
Selflessness
Seeks positive emotions in people and therefore tends to lift others’ mood, sympathize with them, and help them, while harming others or creating or finding enemies for himself is not at all among his aspirations
Predisposition toward lofty, selfless idealism of views
Need to love and be loved
Likes an atmosphere of excitement and emotional uplift.
Non-egoism, respect for the interests of other people, including strangers or slight acquaintances
Attraction to strong emotions and passions.
Benevolent and trusting attitude toward all people, including strangers
High suggestibility to other people’s moods
Conviction that one works for the common global good.
An Alpha member has come to an LIE.
Try in the conversation to play on the following matching values:
High suggestibility to other people’s moods
Benevolent and trusting attitude toward all people, including strangers
Openness to the new and diverse
Humanism, intolerance of violence and the infliction of suffering
Need to love and be loved
Weak discernment of the individual characteristics of other people’s character, thoughts, and motives.
Selflessness (at least, the desire to have a reputation as a selfless person ready for charity).
And remember that the following list of your values is categorically rejected by the LIE:
Dominance of the principle of interest.
Sincerity and honesty; does not like and does not know how to be cunning, deceive, be two-faced, or intrigue.
Love of systematization.
Predisposition toward lofty, selfless idealism of views
Interest in and respect for scientific pursuits and scientific intellect
Truth-seeking aimed at establishing and clarifying the truth
Indecisiveness and lack of assertiveness and command qualities
Inclination toward everything problematic
Potential of a “gawker”; inability to move consistently toward a goal while ignoring newly arriving unplanned impressions
Low level of ambition and greed of desires
Rigidity of emotional states, views, and convictions; difficulty adapting to changes in the environment
Respect for abstract fantasies
Purity of principles is more important to him than any benefit
Art for art’s sake, beauty and pleasure above pragmatic utility
Indifference to money as a value in life
Inclination toward lofty thoughts about the eternal, the meaning of life, and the rationality of the world order
An Alpha member has come to an IEE.
What unites you with him is openness to the new, openness to fantasy, selflessness and indifference to money (unless he has an acute need for it), the principle of interest, and liking an atmosphere of excitement.
However, the list of nonmatching positions is longer. Here is the list of your values and properties that are alien to the IEE:
High suggestibility to other people’s moods
Purity of principles is more important than any benefit
Inclination toward everything problematic
Inclination toward lofty thoughts about the eternal, the meaning of life, and the rationality of the world order
Interest in and respect for scientific pursuits and scientific intellect
Attraction to strong emotions and passions
