Ti - legislators function (analysis of Talanov's questionnaires statistics)

Ti is a function of mental modeling of the surrounding world, drawing up its “map” for the sake of better orientation in space and control over objects.

Any reality is very diverse, which always complicates its understanding. No brain is able to accommodate this diversity, therefore, by default, only a small part of reality is available to each subject - the one that is limited to the practice of his individual life. However, being a “merry” function and therefore gravitating towards the suprapersonal meanings of life, Ti does not agree with this state of affairs. Wanting to spread its understanding and its control over the situation as widely as possible, in the limit - to the entire visible world, Ti sacrifices the accuracy of reflection in the consciousness of each individual object. In the surrounding world, its objects and phenomena, a strong Ti looks for repeating and measurable features. As a result, instead of many unique objects, Ti observes in the surrounding world only a few typical patterns repeating in different combinations, which reflect only the most important properties of these objects in the opinion of the owner of Ti. Observing a multitude of homogeneous objects, a strong Ti inevitably begins to keep statistics of their distribution. From the knowledge of these statistics, an understanding of the universal laws governing the world is born.

The advantages of this approach are obvious - it is now possible to keep in mind and control a much larger number of objects and much larger areas of space. This is very important when building any global systems - be it a system of state control that allows coordinating the physical efforts of huge masses of people, or a system of intellectual control of the world that allows coordinating the mental efforts of many individuals to understand reality - science.

However, the disadvantages of this approach are also known. First of all, this is a voluntaristic arbitrariness in choosing the parameters by which we determine the type of object. In fact, there are no objectively existing coordinate systems and units of measurement in the world (that is why Ti is a “subjectivistic” function). So in order to measure the world in a single format, it is necessary to impose this single standard, to accustom large masses of people to use it. The latter rarely occurs without physical violence against the supporters of other systems, but even if the latter can be avoided, Ti still inevitably requires essentially totalitarian methods of teaching the unified knowledge to new generations. The second negative aspect of Ti manifests itself already for the owner of this very Ti. By coarsening an object to a typical template or to several numerical parameters, we always lose a significant part of the information about it, and therefore, we partly lose understanding and control. Yes, Ti is strong on a large scale, when it comes to controlling and understanding a huge number of objects, but it is equally weak in everything that concerns individual interaction with specific objects, the inability to see and use those of their properties that are immeasurable, implicit, informal. Outside of his system, the owner of a strong Ti becomes helpless - not seeing the peculiarities of individual people, he does not know how to understand what someone specifically needs, and therefore, does not know how to intrigue, manipulate, advertise himself to someone, interest someone specifically.

Evolutionarily, the beginnings of Ti can be seen in the territorial behavior of animals. The ability to mentally build a map of the space in which you live in order to better understand where the boundaries of your territory are (in order to mark them correctly and not to run into rivals unnecessarily), where it makes sense to move in this or that case, so as not to get into trouble - these are all tasks that the primitive Ti solves.

In combination with Te, Ti gives rise to an interest in any formal number systems that allow standardizing the perception of the surrounding reality (Te is also interested in this, but for other purposes - for the sake of time control and the effectiveness of their actions in it, while Ti is more interested in controlling space in order to avoid unnecessary collisions).

Ti has Fe in common the desire to join a certain global system that reflects the essence of the subject, giving his personal life suprapersonal goals and meaning. Ti in this pair is responsible for the formation and preservation of the principles on which this system is structured, Fe - for the feeling of emotional involvement in the life of all its participants. Both of these functions are equally ideological, alien to pragmatism and individualism, prone to fanatical commitment and strive to spread their system as the only true one to an unlimited range of potential supporters.

Ti and Fi are antagonistic functions, related as a decrease and increase in the scale of perception of the world. Where Fi approaches the object (and in the process of this approach the object acquires individual features, that is, it becomes psychologically close to the subject), there Ti moves away from any subject into infinity (in the process of which the subject loses all its unique features and becomes only a number, only a typical template among many other numbers and templates). Therefore, the abilities of Ti and Fi are in contradiction with each other: Fi is strong in cognitive empathy (that is, recognizing the features of other people, their intentions, relationships and emotions), but weak in mathematics, Ti - exactly the opposite.

Other functions also give strong Ti additional features.

Connecting with Ni, Ti gives rise to a tendency to escapism and hermitism. The connection with Si corresponds to such personality traits as honesty, simplicity, inability (and unwillingness) to intrigue and dissemble.
The connection with Ne stimulates abstract thinking for the sake of understanding the laws of nature, and with Se - the desire to strictly defend the laws as principles of the “correct” structure of society.
The combination of Ti with Qi generates a thirst for global justice, while Ti + Di is distinguished by special asceticism and a soldier’s readiness to carry out any order.
The combination of Ti + Qe increases confidence in one’s own rightness, and Ti + De increases the ability to search for information and learn any new knowledge.
