Empirical Clusters of 'Carelessness-Foresight'
CLUSTER 1
Carelessness – markers of high histamine activity
CLUSTER 2
Carelessness – effects of high serotonin activity in the anterior part of the cingulate gyrus of the brain – problem-freeness and weak reaction to stress (absence of hyperactivation of the ACC)
CLUSTER 3
Carelessness – mental mobility (absence of hyperactivation of the ACC, also high serotonin activity in the ACC)
CLUSTER 4
Carelessness – likes predictability, avoidance of changes. The so-called “avoidance syndrome,” caused by a shift of the balance from dopamine to serotonin (Cloninger C.R., 1995)
CLUSTERS WHOSE PHYSIOLOGICAL CAUSE IS NOT ENTIRELY CLEAR:
CLUSTER 5
Carelessness – dependent on the environment
CLUSTER 6
Carelessness – likes to gossip
CLUSTER 7
Carelessness – squeamishness toward insects, squeamishness in food, a nauseous aversion reaction to everything unusual-inedible that gets into the mouth (in contrast to questimity, for which squeamishness and aversion toward unpleasant people is most characteristic). A possible connection with increased activation of the left-hemisphere anterior insula.
CLUSTER 8
Carelessness – connection with tall height (besides physiological, in particular – purely hypothetical connection with growth hormone, a purely psychological explanation via an artifact is also possible – namely, the absence of psychological complexes and, as a result, more frequent and already purely volitional “appropriation” of careless TIMs for oneself)
CLUSTER 9
Carelessness – mixes up right and left
CLUSTER 10
Carelessness as an association with socionic judiciousness – nonmaliciousness and complaisance
This cluster can be interpreted as a consequence of the natural weak correlational connection of carelessness with judiciousness. And the matter here, apparently, is not in the effect of suggestion from the names of the traits. The functions Si, Ne (forming the judicious pole) and the functions Se, Ni (forming the decisive pole) are each constructed as the sum of five socionic traits, including vertness and intuition–sensing. And the trait “carelessness” in turn is correlated with the combination extraversion+intuition (or introversion+sensing). Even if in the case of “carelessness” the real connection with vertness and intuition–sensing is not one hundred percent, as predicted by the simplified “classical” model of socionics, it is still there. Due to this, reasoning purely mathematically, a moderate correlation between the poles of carelessness and judiciousness should result (since both these poles tend toward relatively greater strength of Ne and Si).
CLUSTER 11
Carelessness as irresponsibility or social naïveté
And this cluster is undoubtedly directly related to the name of the trait “Carelessness–prudence”. But what follows from what here – the name from the properties, or the properties from the name (thanks to the effect of suggestion) – remains an open question.
ITEM-BY-ITEM COMPOSITION OF THE 11 EMPIRICALLY IDENTIFIED CLUSTERS:

Why do we speak of a connection between the questions of this cluster and increased central activity of the neurotransmitter histamine?
REFERENCE ON THE EFFECTS OF HISTAMINE:
Histamine – along with serotonin – is the main neurotransmitter that, in its peripheral effects, ensures the normal physiological course of inflammatory reactions. Under its action the capillaries dilate and the permeability of the walls of small vessels increases, the consequence of which is edema around the foci of inflammation. But histamine participates not only in peripheral physiological reactions of the organism; it also works as a neurotransmitter in the CNS.
If in a person the level of histamine is chronically or episodically elevated, then the following problems will be frequent (each of them by itself is not specific to histamine alone, but in their sum they are markers of its hyperactivity in the organism and the CNS):
- Spasm of smooth (involuntary) musculature in the bronchi and intestines (this manifests itself, respectively, as abdominal pain, diarrhea, impaired breathing)
- Multiple pseudo-allergies to different foods or to the same product but with different degrees of processing and storage
- Acid reflux and increased stomach acidity
- Increased production of digestive juices and mucus secretion in the bronchi and nasal cavity
- The effect on the vessels manifests itself in constriction of large and dilation of small blood vessels, increased permeability of the capillary network. The consequence is edema of the mucosa of the respiratory tract, hyperemia of the skin, the appearance on it of papular (nodular) rash, lowered blood pressure, headache
- Frequent nasal congestion without infection, sneezing, difficult breathing (nasal congestion, abundant mucus in the nose – all these are effects of histamine)
- Excessive tissue edema, urticaria and undefined rashes.
- Dizziness, fatigue, headaches and migraines
- Difficulties with falling asleep, overexcitability, easy awakening. Conversely, antihistamine medications (diphenhydramine, Suprastin, etc.) reduce the level of CNS excitation and act as mild relaxants.
- Numerous food intolerances
- Often – arrhythmia and increased heart rate, unstable body temperature, unstable menstrual cycle in women.
Symptoms of histamine hyperactivity arise especially often in predisposed people after consuming specific food or drinks containing large amounts of histamine precursors and therefore rapidly raising its level in the body.
There exists a therapeutic scale for assessing the problems of histamine hyperactivity; in this case particular attention is paid to the following symptoms:
• Gastrointestinal discomfort (bloating, diarrhea, etc.)
• Skin symptoms (itching, redness, rash)
• Headache (including migraine and menstrual migraine), dizziness
• Mental fatigue
• General discomfort
• Panic attacks, sudden changes in psychological state, as a rule, during or after eating
• “Lead exhaustion,” as a rule, during or after eating (increased drowsiness; however, sleep does not restore vitality); general lack of energy
• Chills, tremors, discomfort, breathing difficulties
• Sleep disturbances (with an excess of histamine a person is overexcited and experiences problems with sleep, falling asleep and relaxation).
The interrelations between the histaminergic and orexin/hypocretinergic systems of the brain are important. The mediators of these two systems act synergistically, playing a unique role in maintaining wakefulness.
So, symptoms of elevated histamine levels (or hypersensitivity to it) include gastrointestinal disorders (including increased stomach acidity, abdominal pain, stool disorders), sneezing, rhinorrhea (runny nose), nasal congestion, cough, shortness of breath, bronchospasm, dysmenorrhea (in this case dysmenorrhea is often combined with cyclic headache), arrhythmia, urticaria, headache, pain of various localization (muscle, joint), disturbed thermoregulation, general weakness, dizziness, increased fatigability, at the same time restless sleep and difficulties falling asleep, unstable blood pressure with a general predisposition to hypotension (low blood pressure), a sensation of hot flushes of blood to the head, strong edema around wounds and even simple scratches, red dermographism (rapidly appearing pink line at the site of a light superficial scratch with a sharp object on the skin), and so on.
It has been established that at a histamine concentration in plasma from 0.3 to 1 ng/ml, no pathological clinical signs usually arise – only at higher concentrations.
“Headache, facial flushing when drinking red wine, the desire to immediately pull out a handkerchief at the mere sight of bananas, eggplants or citrus fruits – that’s all histamine.
A variety of histamine pseudo-allergy is nervous allergy. Nervous allergy is classified as pseudo-allergy, since it arises without the presence of an allergen – a substance that provokes histamine release. Elevated histamine levels in the blood are recorded, but skin tests do not reveal an allergen in the period of rest. As soon as a person starts to get nervous, the values of previously unmanifested skin reactions become positive.” (A. Beloveshkin)
Of foods, the most histamine is contained in tuna, sardines, smoked mackerel, parmesan, salami. Of drinks – red wine. Conversely, quercetin, thyme herb, basil herb, and turmeric root powder have an antihistamine effect (and accordingly anti-allergic and anti-edematous).
Stress and histamine
In the “stress” syndrome, the release of biologically active substances (histamine, serotonin, heparin) released from the granules of mast cells is enhanced, the state of the immune system is disturbed. Chronic stress contributes to an increase in histamine release. ACTH directly stimulates histamine release, whereas cortisol suppresses it.
As dehydration progresses, the level of histamine also rises (and the level of serotonin falls). Abundant water consumption, on the contrary, promotes a decrease in histamine concentrations with a simultaneous rise in serotonin. For this reason, in most illnesses (for example, flu) accompanied by an active histamine attack with concomitant excessive inflammatory edematous reactions, plentiful drinking is recommended. Water consumption leads to insulin release and through this raises serotonin levels. Because of this, a kind of “see-saw” works between histamine and serotonin.
However, from the point of view of physiological effects, histamine and serotonin largely produce similar actions on the periphery of the body (both are mediators of inflammation, both increase capillary permeability, both contribute to migraine, etc.). In their central action these two neurotransmitters diverge. Thus, serotonin elevates mood (enhancing its “don’t-care” component), reduces the influence of stress, improves sleep, and so on.
If elevated histamine in the CNS accompanies rather an intuitive personality type, then serotonin – a sensory one.

- I can simulate (“portray”) a state of satisfaction and well-being for years, without saying a word to friends about my problems. -0.56
- Most interesting for me is to understand a situation in development and to think up how to make it so that with a small impact (preferably with a word) one can set off an avalanche of necessary changes. -0.57

The “Miscellaneous” cluster, into which questions fall that are little related to each other in meaning and not related to the semantic content of any of the previous clusters, we do not show, since all the questionnaire items that fell into it may turn out to be merely the result of random statistical outliers.
It is noteworthy that the clusters of “carelessness–prudence” do not, rather, have a single semantic core, but break up into those tending on the one hand toward the intuitive pole (clusters 1, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11) and those tending toward the sensory pole (clusters 2, 4). Cluster 10, in addition, tends toward judiciousness, cluster 6 – toward ethics and extraversion, clusters 3 and 11 – toward irrationality, cluster 7 – toward rationality and ethics, cluster 2 – toward emotivism.
The presence of a single semantic core can be expected from socionic traits that require dual complementation in the opposite pole of the trait. But this cannot be expected from traits that have the same polarity in duals (including carelessness–prudence). Anything else would contradict the principle of maximum genetic divergence of duals.
BY THE WAY, MORE ABOUT “CARELESSNESS–PRUDENCE” (as an addendum). It is very similar to the case that all or almost all markers of the “careless” are provided merely by an increased concentration of endogenous GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyric acid) in their brain, or by increased sensitivity of GHB receptors. Thus, for the subjectively perceived effect of GHB (taken orally in a small dose), a pleasant feeling of relaxation and calm is characteristic. Serenity, sensuality, mild euphoria, light dizziness, and increased sociability often arise. Anxiety and tension disappear, turning into a feeling of emotional warmth, imaginary well-being, and relaxation. GHB (and endogenous GHB is present in the brain of all people, but in different amounts) also duplicates many physiological markers of the “careless” pole.
(journal of the RAMS “Mental Health”, No. 3, 2014, pp. 69–76)From the increased concentration of intracerebral GHB in the “careless” there should naturally follow a correlational connection of the careless with tall height: after all, GHB in turn leads to an increase (up to twofold) in the production of growth hormone (somatotropin) – for this reason, until the 2000s, when exogenous GHB was banned by the authorities of a number of countries, it was even specifically taken by various bodybuilders and weightlifters. And by reducing the release of dopamine into synapses, GHB in turn leads to a rise in serotonergic activity. You can read more about the properties and effects of GHB here:
